Accessibility statement
HOA Line should work for every homeowner, including people who use screen readers, magnification, voice control, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or larger text. This statement covers hoaline.com and the HOA Line app for Android and iOS.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make digital content usable by people with a wide range of disabilities.
What we do
- Check our web pages with automated accessibility tests whenever they change, and fix what the tests find.
- Build pages to work with the keyboard alone and with screen readers: a skip link, labeled form fields, visible focus, and text alternatives for images.
- Use readable color contrast in light and dark mode, and respect reduced-motion settings.
- Caption our demo video and publish a text transcript with it.
- In the app: light and dark themes, larger text sizes on top of your phone's own setting, and a font designed for low vision.
- Keep a record of our accessibility testing and fixes.
Known gaps we're working on
- Community documents. Some governing documents are scans of recorded paper documents, which screen readers can't read. HOA Line answers questions from these documents in plain text, and on request we'll send the text of a section we've cited.
- Independent review. Our testing so far is our own, mostly automated. We haven't yet had an independent manual accessibility audit of the website or the app.
- The app. We're still working through full screen reader testing of every screen with VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android.
- Other companies' services. Payments go through Stripe, and the app is distributed through Google Play and the App Store. Their pages are covered by their own accessibility commitments, not ours.
